Connecting a Macintosh
- Make sure you have the correct cable(s) to connect to the wired network (if you're going to use the wired network). Contact the IT Helpdesk and let them know you need a physical network connection. You can call x3830 or email helpdesk@stolaf.edu and include your name, phone number, building and room number. You'll be notified once the connection is activated.
- Wired: connect the cable to the data jack in your room and to your computer.
Wireless: Connect to the wireless network St. Olaf (preferred) or St. Olaf (Unencrypted). Directions for connecting. - Start a web browser (Firefox, Safari, etc.) and go through the network registration process.
- The network registration process only needs to be completed once each school year for each type of connection you use (once for a wired connection, once for a wireless connection). If your web browser allows you to surf to other pages (i.e., Google, CNN, or the rest of the St. Olaf site), you've already registered and don't need to do it again.
- If your web browser doesn't take you to the Network Registration page, try typing the following URL into the URL/Location bar of your browser: https://netreg.stolaf.edu
- The network registration process only needs to be completed once each school year for each type of connection you use (once for a wired connection, once for a wireless connection). If your web browser allows you to surf to other pages (i.e., Google, CNN, or the rest of the St. Olaf site), you've already registered and don't need to do it again.

Utilizing Your Network Connection:
- For your St. Olaf e-mail, browse to http://gmail.stolaf.edu
- Connecting to the campus servers.
- Use the public printers.

To use the Internet features of a game console, you need to register the game console on the network in a similar way that you registered your computer on the network.
