Grant Proposals
Information and Instructional Technologies supports and encourages faculty to seek outside funding to help support technology-based teaching and research initiatives on campus. To ensure that all proposals can be supported to the fullest degree possible, faculty should be aware of the following:
- To aid in planning, all departments and offices must review their grant proposal with an Information and Instructional Technologies (IIT) staff member prior to final submission to the Government and Foundation Relations Office. IIT will assist faculty who are planning to write grant proposals involving computing technology by discussing preliminary ideas; suggesting software and hardware; reviewing technical feasibility; preparing budget estimates; identifying possible discounts; and by outlining maintenance requirements and costs.
- IIT currently supports Apple and Gateway computers, the HP line of printers and scanners, and a host of other peripherals and A/V equipment. IIT may add new items to the support list if the evidence developed during the process of writing the proposal shows that such support is feasible and appropriate. The degree of support the IIT can provide may vary from product to product.
- IIT must order all computing hardware and software and all A/V equipment. Equipment processed through the IIT is appropriate tagged and entered into the IIT’s asset management system.
- IIT will install hardware, software, and network connections for all IIT-supported equipment and, upon request, may provide instruction in the use of the newly installed supported systems.
- Within the grant-related projects, IIT gives a higher priority and support level to grant-related technology projects that involve teaching and learning; research-only grant projects will receive a lower priority.
