IIT Technology Charge Back Policy
The Office of Information and Instructional Technologies provides technology services and equipment to the St. Olaf community. The A/V services arm of the IIT is partially self-supporting and therefore charges are assessed for supplies consumed, services rendered or equipment used. These charges also apply to any computer requested.
No personal use of technology services and equipment is allowed. Outside groups and individuals using the services of Buntrock Commons are supported through the Buntrock Commons Office or the Office of Conference and Events. IIT is not involved in providing service to Buntrock Commons or outside groups.
Free Services
Classroom Activities: |
Services and equipment are provided at no cost to an academic department for classroom use. Departments requesting classroom equipment or services less than 2 days prior to the class period may incur a charge and/or may be denied service. Departments will be charged for rental equipment and consumables. |

Faculty Professional Development: |
Faculty members giving papers and talks at professional conferences supported by the Dean’s Office can apply for an exemption from the normal charges by filling out the Faculty Travel Support & Reimbursement form available from the Dean’s Office. |

All departments and offices will be billed for videotapes, CD’s, disks, etc. |

Special and Student Events |
Fees are charged for services and equipment, both for campus owned and rental equipment. Fees will be double for all requests received less than 2 weeks prior to the event or the service may be denied. | |
| Faculty Research | Departments will be charged for services and equipment provided. Faculty are encouraged to check with CILA to see if the research project qualifies for a “Just in Time” grant from CILA. Please note that the research must be in support of learning and teaching. Faculty are also encouraged to include a line item for technology services and equipment in all grant proposals. | |
| Department or Office Activities: | Departments and offices will be charged a fee for services and equipment provided, both for campus owned equipment and rental gear. | |
| Externally Funded Events for Faculty Or Staff: | Events and activities sponsored by a St. Olaf member but funded by an outside organization are charged for services and equipment provided, including computers. These outside groups will not have access to the full compliment of IIT services. |
