Building a Web Page at St. Olaf
The World Wide Web is a hypermedia system (text, pictures, sounds, movies) that provides access to the wealth of information that is available from sites throughout the world on the Internet. By creating your own Web pages, you can make your information available to the world.
This document assumes familiarity with a graphical browser, like
Firefox or Internet Explorer. If you are not familiar
with a web browser, please contact the IT HelpDesk (Rolvaag
251) at x3830 or helpdesk@stolaf.edu.

- Gathering Tools and Content
- Visit the Web Development Tools sections of the site for Dreamweaver templates, quick links to the Photo Library, Poll Center, and Banner Creator.
- Section 2 - Creation
- IT recommends you use Dreamweaver to make your site. Dreamweaver allows you to build complex, interesting web pages without needing to know HTML. Dreamweaver is not free, but is available to students, faculty and staff through the college.
- Section 3 - Upload & View
- If you are using Dreamweaver, you can upload your site using Dreamweaver's built-in tools. Review Uploading Your Site with Dreamweaver.
