Setting up a VPN Connection on Windows 7
To configure a VPN connection to the St. Olaf network:
- Open the Control Panel
- Go to Network and Internet and then to the Network and Share Center.
- Click Set up a new connection or network.

- Select Connect
to a workplace and click the Next button.

- Click Use my Internet connection (VPN).

- For the Internet address: enter vpn.stolaf.edu.
- For the Destination name: enter St. Olaf VPN.
- Check Don't connect now; just set it up so I can connect later and click Next.

- Enter your username (you may have to type "stoad\" without quotes before username) and click Create.
Important security note: When configuring a VPN connection on a computer that is shared by multiple users (e.g. your home computer), do not check the "Remember this password" box - this will allow any user of the computer to connect to St. Olaf network.
- Once the connection is created, click Close.
Using the St. Olaf VPN connection
To connect to the St. Olaf VPN:
- Click on the Start Menu and click Control Panel. Then go to Network and Sharing Center.
- Select Connect to a Network from the list and click Connect.
- A box in the lower right should pop up and the St. Olaf VPN should be an option. Click St. Olaf VPN and then click Connect.

- Enter your username (you may need to type "stoad\" before username) and password when prompted.

Important security note: When configuring a VPN connection on a computer that is shared by multiple users (e.g. your home computer), do not check the "Remember this password" box - this will allow any user of the computer to connect to St. Olaf network.
To disconnect from the St. Olaf VPN:
- Follow steps 1-3 from Using the St. Olaf VPN Connection.
- Click on St. Olaf VPN and click Disconnect.
