Do You Have a Child Graduating This Spring?
As spring approaches some of you may have a graduating senior from either high school or college.
Blue Cross Blue Shield defines an eligible dependent as the following:
-
Unmarried children to age 19. Children can include the following; natural born, legally adopted, children of the domestic partner of the employee, stepchildren or grandchildren who are claimed as exemptions of your federal income tax return.
-
Unmarried children to age 25 if the dependent child is attending an accredited college, university, or trade school on a full-time basis.
If you have a dependent child who is graduating and does not meet the qualifications listed above, his/her health insurance coverage will cease at the end of the month in which they graduate. Continuation coverage is available for your dependent child but this is not an automatic process. It is subject to you electing the coverage. If you are in this situation, it is imperative that you contact Human Resources within 60 days of this event.
Summer hours are in effect beginning the week of May 26th through August 22nd. Generally, office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM with a ½ hour lunch period and Friday, 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Summer hours/days may vary by department.
