Classification Study
In 2001, St. Olaf hired Stan McKnight & Associates, Inc., for a study intended to provide recommendations for improvements to the overall classification/compensation program of exempt and non-exempt staff at St. Olaf College. The five phases of the study are as follows:
- To provide an operational review of the effectiveness of the current classification and compensation system, including the expectations of departments and employees.
- To provide a market study of benchmark staff jobs and identification of internal salary compression problems.
- To provide specific recommendations for improvements to the existing compensation and classification program while continuing as much of the present structure as possible.
- To provide implementation of specific recommendations for a new classification and compensation system.
- Follow-on support and review after implementation.
Phase I of that study was completed in May 2001. That report is available here .
