ST. OLAF CONNECTION
The community service and outreach activities offered by GEAR UP are connected with the mission of St. Olaf College which encourages students to pursue activities which are "ultimately worthwhile." The following are cooperative services sponsored by GEAR UP that enhance education opportunities for St. Olaf students:

  • Annually, 5 St. Olaf student workers are hired to provide office support to GEAR UP.
  • Annually, 50 St. Olaf students serve as mentors to students at Humboldt Secondary School and Harding High School. Mentors and mentees have weekly writing exchanges and the opportunity to visit each other three times during the academic year. During the last meeting of the year, students from Humboldt and Harding visit their mentors at St. Olaf College.
