Schedules will be posted on the Intramural bulletin board located next to the Athletics Office in Skoglund AND on the Intramurals Website at www.stolaf.edu/recreation/intramurals/schedules.
1. All games will be umpired. Umpires will be responsible for calling balls and strikes, fair or foul balls, flat or too high pitches and if a runner is safe or out. All umpires decisions are FINAL!
2. A team will consist of 10 players. A team may start with as few as 7 players. When using 7 players, the other team MUST provide a catcher but will not make a play at home. If a team is reduced to 6 players the game will be forfeited at that point.
Co-Rec: When playing with 10 players, you must have 5 males and 5 females.
If playing with an odd number of players, there can only be 1 more male than female or 1 more female than male, (Example: If playing with 9 players – you can have 5 males and 4 females or 5 females and 4 males and when playing with 7 players – you can have 4 males and 3 females or 4 females and 3 males)
If playing with an even number of players, you MUST have an even number of males and females at all times, (Example: If playing with 8 players – you must have 4 males and 4 females)

game will consist of 7 innings or 45 minutes, which ever occurs first. No new inning will begin after 45 minutes.
A. The Supervisor will designate the game watch.
B. Tie games: to determine the winner when time runs out, go back to the last completed inning and use that as the final score.
C. If a game is called due to inclement weather: Three (3) completed innings will constitute a completed game. If less than 3 innings were completed, the game will be rescheduled if possible.
D. Decisions regarding game cancellations due to inclement weather will not be made until 3:00pm.
4. Mercy Rule: If a team is ahead by 15 runs at the completion of 5 innings the game will be called.
A. The pitcher must stand on the pitching rubber in order for the pitch to be legal.
B. Each pitch must be between 6 and 12 feet in height
C. A pitch that hits the MAT or PLATE is a strike
D. A pitch that hits anywhere other than the mat or plate is a ball
E. Each batter will be given a 3 ball – 2 strike count
F. If a male walks, the female up next has the option to walk also (no intentionally walking males)
G. Each batter will be given 1 courtesy foul on the second strike
6. All BASEBALL BATS, TRIPLE-WALLED BATS and METAL CLEATS are ILLEGAL and will not be allowed. If you are found to be using either one, your team will forfeit that game and the player with the equipment will be ejected from the league. Round metal tipped cleats are legal.
7. BASE RUNNERS: No runner may lead off or steal. Runners may not leave the base until the ball is
hit. There is NO SLIDING! The runner will automatically be out. Advance at your own risk on all overthrows that remain in the playing area. If an overthrow goes down the hill on either side of the playing area, the runner will automatically advance one base.
8. Each team should furnish their own gloves. The Intramural Office will provide balls, some bats and bases. Intramural softballs are the official game ball. Al players must wear shoes at all times.
9. Courtesy Runner: You may use a courtesy runner for an injury once the batter safely reaches
base. Use the person that made the last out (if needed, use the previous inning), however a male must replace a male and a female replace a female.
10. Extra Hitter(s): You may bat as many extra batters in men’s and women’s leagues as you wish.
Co-Rec teams may bat as many extra hitters as you wish, but they must rotate between male and female. If batting only 1 extra batter in Co-Rec it must be a female.
11. All players in the field must bat. - Players may re-enter the game as many times as desired
12. Batting out of order: If noticed before the first pitch of the next legal batter, it is an OUT. If not noticed before the first pitch of the next legal batter, then it is a non-correctable error and the batter is legal.
13. Co-Rec teams must bat: Male/Female or Female/Male all the way through the batting lineup.
14. Current St. Olaf is required at all games. NO ID, NO PLAY!
15. There is NO BUNTING. All bunts or bunt attempts are up to the judgment of the umpire. If a bunt or bunt attempt is called, the batter is automatically out.
16. All other ASA slow pitch softball rules apply.

18. Forfeit. A forfeit will be called after 5 minutes of scheduled start time.
1st FORFEIT: $5 re-entry fee that must be paid within 24 hours of the forfeit.
2nd FORFEIT: Team is automatically out of the league.
19. Alcohol: It is a College policy that alcoholic beverages may not be consumed at Intramural events. Please help us enforce this policy with both you, your teammates, and your spectators. If your team or fans fail to cooperate, it may result in forfeiture of the game and possible suspension from the IM program.
20. Weather: PLEASE DO NOT CALL UNTIL 3PM TO FIND OUT IF THE GAMES WILL BE CANCELLED. All captains will be notified if games are cancelled. Captains will also be notified as to when re-scheduled games will take place.
21. All players must play in one regular season game in order to be eligible for playoffs and can only play for one team. If caught both teams may be forfeited out of the league.
