Chinese Language and Culture -Term position - 2013-14

The Department of Asian Studies at St. Olaf College seeks a one-year visiting assistant professor or instructor in Chinese language and culture, beginning September, 2013.
 
Candidates should be near-native speakers of English and Mandarin Chinese, experienced in teaching Chinese language courses, and prepared to teach language courses at all levels. PhD preferred, but ABDs welcome to apply.  Specialization in Chinese language and culture (including literature, linguistics or interdisciplinary approaches such as film studies and cultural studies) is required. Candidates should be able to teach one course on some aspect of Chinese language or culture in English and be committed to supporting the Chinese and Asian Studies programs by assisting with activities outside the classroom, such as the weekly Chinese Language Conversation Table, supervision of student assistants, and recruitment and orientation for study abroad programs. Familiarity with the use of technology for teaching is expected.
