Independent Study and Independent Research Courses

All Independent Study and Independent Research Courses must be approved by the Chair of the Department.

1. Requirements for Political Science 298: Independent Study

a. Prerequisites:

· A minimum of three completed courses in political science, or permission of instructor

· At least one completed political science course within the same subfield, or permission of instructor.

b. Expectations for supervision: Weekly tutorial meetings (minimum one hour per week) with instructor

2. Requirements for Political Science 398: Independent Research

a. Prerequisites:

· A minimum of five completed courses in political science, or permission of instructor

· At least one completed political science course within the same subfield, or permission of instructor

· Completion of PS 220: Analyzing Politics and Policies, or permission of instructor

b. Expectations for supervision: Regular consultation with instructor
