Diving Camp Experience

St. Olaf Diving Camp is designed for boys and girls ages 13-17 who have been diving competitively in an association or school program for at least one season.  The camp's comprehensive approach utilizes pool time, dry-land and weight training, dry-board practice, video review and classroom sessions to improve all aspects of your diving.

Training activities are balanced with recreational activities and are supervised by camp coaches and counselors.

Daily Activities
Camp includes two sets of divers who are grouped by age and ability. Meet the Coaches

Gabe Kortuem
Gabe Kortuem is in his sixth year as diving coach at St. Olaf College. While a student at St. Olaf, Gabe made four national appearances and earned seven All-American honors. He finished his college career in 2002 as a national champion and set the Division III national record.

Since Gabe became the diving coach at St. Olaf, five student athletes have qualified for the Division III national meet and many have earned All-American honors. Recently, Gabe coached the men and women at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship meet held in February. He was voted the MIAC Diving Coach of the Year in 2007, with six of 10 divers making finals on both 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Gabe coached at Northfield High School for one year before joining the St. Olaf coaching staff. He continues to coach club diving during the summers in the south metro area and is the head diving coach at Carleton College.

Gregg Rappe

When diving coaches in Minnesota are mentioned, one name usually comes up: Gregg Rappe. He has coached high school, college and club diving for 29 seasons. His athletes have gone on to become state champions at the high school level, and many have earned All-State honors. Gregg also coached many college athletes to All-American honors and one to a national championship.

Gregg recently retired from coaching after his 26th year of high school swimming and diving. He spent eight years building a winning program at Farmingtion High School. Prior to Farmington, Gregg coached at Northfield High School for 18 years. He was named Section Diving Coach of the year 12 times and Section Swim Coach of the year 4 times. Capping a 15-year college coaching career, Gregg was named the Division III National Diving Coach of the Year in 2002.

Gregg continues to coach club diving in the south metro area during the summer.

Room, Board and Roommates
Divers are housed two or three to a room and may request a specific roommate. Roommates must request each other and register at the same time. Enrollment is limited and space cannot be held for a late-registering roommate. A limited number of triple rooms are available. Please contact us about this option by e-mail at summer@stolaf.edu.

Campers dine in the award-winning college cafeteria where they will enjoy tasty, healthful choices - including salads, hamburgers, pizza, fresh fruits, hot entrees and, of course, the popular dessert station!

Safety First
Coaches and counselors live in the residence hall and provide 24-hour supervision of all divers and their activities. The college also provides a well-trained security staff that operates 24/7 year-round.

Good Value
The summer dive camp fee includes lodging Sunday through Wednesday nights with bedding and a bath towel. The cost also includes meals from Sunday dinner through the Thursday lunch, a low camper-to-coach ratio, and a dive camp T-shirt.
