The Fund: Experts In Building Organizations, Winning Campaigns & Training Activists

Fund for the Public Interest’s 30-year commitment to professional, systematic grassroots action has made us the go-to group in our field. When it comes to building organizations and creating the groundswell of public support needed to overcome powerful special interest opposition, our effectiveness is unrivaled.

In 20 states, the Fund trains our staff to raise money, recruit members and do grassroots political work on behalf of more than 50 progressive organizations — including U.S. PIRG, the Human Rights Campaign and Environment America. Meanwhile, hundreds of Fund alumni lead the way for hundreds of other effective political organizations, elected officials, and socially-conscious businesses.

Be in charge. Lead the charge. Our opponents have big money and booming voices that echo through the halls of government and permeate our culture. Our job is to defeat their money-power with people-power. To make that happen, Fund leaders convey urgency and passion so we can inspire like-minded citizens to get involved. We’re resourceful on a shoestring budget. We work hard, and we work smart. We relish righteous fights and fight to win. And sure, we have a pretty good time along the way. Does this sounds a little like you?

AVAILABLE LEADERSHIP POSITIONS

> Canvass Directors and Assistant Canvass Directors Run a campaign office. Hire, train, supervise, and work alongside a staff of 10 to 40 people conducting door-to-door and street membership and fundraising drives. Also, run petition and letter-writing drives, organize coalitions, hold news conferences, and lobby decision-makers. Generally raise hell.

> Telephone Outreach Project (T.O.P.) Directors Through telephone outreach, progressive organizations are able to reach, inform and mobilize thousands of citizen supporters. Directors of the Fund's Telephone Outreach Projects recruit and manage a staff of 20 to 30 articulate, committed people in order to raise funds and activate citizens over the phone.
