Ole men rout Bethany Lutheran 10-1

MANKATO, Minn.- Seven Oles scored as the St. Olaf men's soccer team routed Bethany Lutheran 10-1 on Tuesday night.
St. Olaf got two goals from Nick Lund and one each from David Rosenthal, Ryan Johnsrud, Stephen Johnson, Paul Benz, Kevin Skrip, Phumelela Sukati, and James Miller. The opening goal for the Oles was an own goal in the 20th minute.
Shortly after the Oles went ahead, the Vikings evened the score courtesy of an unassisted goal by Jason Buechler. The goal was the lone Viking shot that got by Preben Bay, who was filling in for the suspended Harry Ullmann.
Following Bethany's goal, St. Olaf scored three times in the final ten minutes of the first half and added six more after the break. Three of the second half goals came in a span of a little more than five minutes of game time.
Seven of the ten goals for the Oles were assisted. Kenzie Lund notched two assists, while twin brother Nick added one assist to his two goals. Skrip, Claudio Barboza, Brenden Johnson, and Jonah Van Why all also registered helpers for St. Olaf.
St. Olaf outshot Bethany 30-3 for the game, including a 17-2 advantage in shots on goal. Bay made one save for the Oles. Viking starter Noah Heidorn made six saves for the Vikings before being replaced by Nicholas Bera for the final few minutes. Bera also registered one save.
With the win, the Oles improve to 6-4-1 overall while the Vikings fall to 4-8. St. Olaf will now turn its' attention back to the MIAC, where they are currently in fifth at 2-1-1. St. Olaf's next game is at St. Thomas (7-2-2. 4-0 MIAC) on Saturday. Kickoff against the Tommies is scheduled for 1 p.m.
