Rosenthal nets winner as Ole men top Carthage 2-1

KENOSA, Wis.- Kevin Skrip and David Rosenthal scored in a span of two minutes in the second half to propel the St. Olaf men's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Carthage College on Friday night.
Trailing 1-0, Skrip scored his second goal of the year to knot the score at 1. Skrip flicked a header inside the far post off a cross from Phumelela Sukati, who registered his second assist of the season.
Rosenthal scored the game-winning goal just 117 seconds later and the Oles held on to secure the win. Rosenthal's goal, his team-leading fourth of the year, came off an assist from Sam Kaplan.
In the fourth minute, Carthage had taken the lead courtesy of a Mike Heika free kick to the top right corner. The goal was Heika's first of the year.
The Oles outshot the Redmen 22-9 for the game and the hosts registered just two shots on target. Rosenthal led the way with five shots, while Kenzie Lund added four. Brenden Johnson had a team-high three shots on goal from his left defense position. Billy Hamilton had four of the nine shots for Carthage.
Harry Ullmann had just one save to make in net for the Oles. Milan Itjanic kept out seven St. Olaf shots for the Redmen but picked up the loss.
The win got the Oles (4-2-1, 1-0-1 MIAC)off to a good start in a series of games in back-to-back nights. St. Olaf faces North Park on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Carthage falls to 6-2-0 on the season having previously beat No.8 Hope College.
