Scientific Name: Bouteloua curtipendula
Other Common Names: Prairie grama
Characteristics: This native perennial grass is found in various types of prairie habitats, thinly wooded bluffs, savannas, and sand barrens, and is commonly used in prairie restorations. 'Side-oats' refers to the small, oatlike seeds hanging from one side of the seed stem. This warm season (C4) grass is 20-40" tall and blooms from July - September.
